- BY T. FAROOK THAJUDEEN

The post mortem inquiry into the death of a person during a shooting incident that took place at the Petroleum Corporation premises in Dematagoda when the former minister in charge of the subject entered his ministerial offices after Parliament was dissolved, was postponed for December 12.

The incident took place on October 28, when former Petroleum Minister Arjuna Ranatunge attempted to enter his office and supporters of Prime Minister Mahinda Rajapaksa tried to stop him from doing so.

In the melee that ensued, Mr. Ranatunga’s official bodyguard had shot into the crowd killing one person and injuring two others.

This was the first act of violence that took place amid the political tension that arose after the President dissolved parliament and replaced Ranil Wickremesinghe with Mahinda Rajapaksa as Prime Minister.
