Chamod steers St. Joseph’s to victory

A matchbag of nine wickets by Chamod Gayan helped St. Joseph’s College Wattala recorded an exciting 17-run outright win over Lyceum, Panadura in their Under-19 Inter-schools Cricket Tournament encounter which concluded at the Prison Grounds in Dalupotha yesterday.

Meanwhile, Galahitiya­wa Central recorded a firstinnin­gs win against Carey College in another match which ended at Mount Mary.

At Dalupotha (St. Joseph’s Wattala won by 17 runs)

St. Joseph’s: 117 and (9/0 overnight) 100 (Malinga Silva 31, Aloka Madushan 20, Niven Rodrigo 7/42, Thithiea Tennekoon 3/9)

Lyceum, Panadura: 89 and 111 (Nesanda Weeraseker­a 66, Chamod Gayan 4/62, Isuru Tissera 3/30,Aloka Madushan 2/5).

At Mount Mary (1st innings win for Galahitiya­wa Central)
