Galle Women cruise to easy win

For­mer Sri Lanka Cap­tain Shashikala Siriwardena shone for Galle in their easy 62-run win over Dambulla in their Women’s In­ter-pro­vin­cial Cricket Tour­na­ment en­counter played at the Thurstan Col­lege Grounds yesterday.

Shashikala’s half cen­tury helped Galle make 205 and later she cap­tured three wick­ets to bowl out Dambulla for 143 runs. Mean­while, Colombo recorded a close nine-run win over Kandy in an­other match played at Katu­nayake.

At Thurstan Grounds (Galle won by 62 runs)

Galle Women: 205 in 49 overs (Shashikala Siriwardena 58, Ashini Per­era 36, Li­hini Ap­sara 22, Ni­lak­shi de Silva 27 n.o, Chamari Ata­p­attu 3/25, Kavee­sha Dil­hari 3/48)

Dambulla Women: 143 in 42.5 overs (Kavee­sha Dil­hara 33,Ashini Ku­la­suriya 3/31, Shashikala Siriwardena 3/23, Sathya San­deepan 2/15).

At Katu­nayake (Colombo Women won by nine runs)

Colombo Women: 197/8 in 50 overs (Yashoda Mendis 65, Eshani Loku­sooriya 23, Madushika Met­tananda 22,Tharika Sewwandi 3/33, Maduri Sa­mu­drika 2/26)

Kandy Women: 188 in 46.5 overs (Harshitha Madawee 66, Sri­pali Weer­akkody 24, Nipuni Han­sika 22, Oshadi Ranas­inghe 3/50).
