Asian Grammar School enters second round

The Under-13 cricket team of Asian Grammar School, Gothatuwa comfortabl­y secured their berth in the second round of the national inter-school Under-13 Division III cricket tournament organised by the Sri Lanka Schools Cricket Associatio­n. This has been the best accomplish­ment in their brief history of three years in national inter-school cricket.

Out of the four league round matches, the Asian Grammar School team managed to record one innings win and two comprehens­ive first innings victories.

In the batting department Jaan Mohamed contribute­d with three sparkling half centuries – 78 off 80 balls, 71 not out off 51 balls and a 57 not out off 20 balls.

Isala Pasanmith also bagged a fivefive wicket haul (5 / 9) against Asoka College in addition to bowling figures of three wickets for five runs, two wickets each for eight runs and 15 runs

College was the pinnacle of all the bowling performanc­es.

He also contribute­d with bowling spells of two wickets each for eight runs, 15 runs and 23 runs.

Isala Pasanmith also bagged a five-five wicket haul (5 / 9) against Asoka College in addition to bowling figures of three wickets for five runs, two wickets each for eight runs and 15 runs.
