President’s statement shows not willing to listen to the people: Harshana

225 MPS represent 21 mln people of this county

President Maithripala Sirisena’s statement that he would not appoint UNP Leader Ranil Wickremesinghe even if all 225 MPS asked him to do so is an indication that he is not willing to listen to the people of this country, UNP MP Harshana Rajakaruna said over the weekend.

Mr. Rajakaruna expressed this view at a media briefing last evening.

“The 225 MPS represent 21 million people of this county in Parliament. When one says he will not listen to these 225 MPS, it means that he is not willing to listen to people of this country,” Mr. Rajakaruna said.

“Hitler also did the same and one wonders whether our President is also following a similar line ,” he added.

Both Mr. Rajakaruna and MP J C Alawathuwala who attended the media briefing said the impact of the political crisis in the economy is becoming dangerous and that President should make a decision without delay.
