Farmer hacks three-wheel driver to death

A farmer who had hacked and killed a trishaw driver over a personal feud was taken into custody by Badulla Police on Saturday.

The suspect was arrested along with the lethal weapon, a curved knife used for harvesting black pepper.

The 66-year-old suspect was a pepper planter by profession and had allegedly committed the crime when the trishaw driver had encroached property of the former.

The deceased trishaw driver had been identified as 47-year-old R M Dammika Ranathunga of the Soranathota area.
