Kandy SC remain unbeaten

Kandy Sports Club cleared their second last hurdle in the first-round of the Dialog Inter-club League Rugby Tournament when they beat the CH and FC by 38 points (six tries and four conversion­s) to 22 points (three tries, two conversion­s and one penalty) at the Nittawela Stadium in Kandy yesterday.

At the breather the home team led 19-8.

CH and FC drew first blood in the seventh minute when Sudam Sooriyarac­hchi dummied his way for a try. Samuel Maduwantha who was off target put over a penalty for the CH and FC four minutes later to take a commanding 8-0 lead.

Kandy SC woke up in the 18th minute through a sweeping three quarter move ending in Danushka Dyan scoring a try.

One try a piece by Richard Dharmapala and Buwanaka Udangamuwa took Kandy SC to a comfortabl­e 19-8 lead at half time.

After the turnaround, Kandy SC scored through Dhanushka Ranjan, Arshard Jamaldeen and Sahshika Jayawarden­a.

One of those tries were goaled by Thilina Wijesinghe. For CH and FC, their two tries were scored by hooker Nivanka Prasad. Both tries were converted by Samuel Maduwantha.
