All schools closed today in North - Governor

This decision was taken by Northern Province Governor Dr. Suren Raghavan with the officials including Northern Province Secretary of Education

Northern Province Governor’s Office informed that steps had been taken to close all the schools in the North on Monday - being the day prior to the Thai Pongal Day that falls on Tuesday (15).

This decision was taken by Northern Province Governor Dr. Suren Raghavan with the officials including Northern Province Secretary of Education after having a discussion.

Meanwhile, the Northern Province Governor’s Office informed the Provincial Educational Offices and Zonal Education Offices to have schools on another day in the week instead of Monday, which is declared a holiday.

The day before Thai Pongal day which is mainly celebrated by the Tamil people is declared as a holiday for the preparation for the Thai Pongal Day.
