RAPE SUR­VIVOR POI­SONED, FOR RE­FUS­ING TO WITH­DRAW CASE

NEW DELHI, (HIN­DUS­TAN TIMES),13 JAN2019- A 17-year-old girl was al­legedly poi­soned, as­saulted and threat­ened in south­west Delhi’s Hast­sal by two mo­tor­cy­cle­borne men for re­fus­ing to with­draw a rape case she had filed against a 20-year-old man last year, said po­lice.

The al­leged at­tack took place on Thurs­day evening when the girl was re­turn­ing home after at­tend­ing tu­ition classes at a nearby coach­ing cen­tre. Two men al­legedly way­laid her and as­saulted her. Po­lice said they over­pow­ered her and poured a bot­tle of some sub­stance down her throat.

“They threat­ened to kill her and her fam­ily mem­bers if she did not with­draw the rape case and changed her state­ment in court,” said a po­lice of­fi­cer as­so­ci­ated with the case.“the at­tack­ers fled when the girl raised an alarm and some peo­ple in the area rushed to her aid. When she started feel­ing dizzy, the girl boarded an auto-rick­shaw and got her­self ad­mit­ted at a hos­pi­tal.”

The girl’s is re­port­edly out of dan­ger, but she is un­der ob­ser­va­tion at a gov­ern­ment hos­pi­tal in West Delhi
