Ire­land ‘A’ makes SL ‘A’ bowlers toil

Ire­land ‘A’ in­vited to take first lease of the wicket made the Sri Lanka ‘A’ bowlers toil hard through­out the open­ing day of the sec­ond un­of­fi­cial Test match which be­gan at the Mahinda Ra­japaksa Sta­dium in Ham­ban­tota yes­ter­day.

Ire­land ‘A’ spear­headed by half cen­turies from James Mccol­lum, Ste­pehn Do­heny, Lor­can Tucker and Neil Rock ended the day with a for­mi­da­ble first in­nings score of 286 for four wick­ets.

Mccol­lum made 72 with seven bound­aries while Do­heny made 58 in­clu­sive of six bound­aries and a six and the pair put on a 100-run stand for the sec­ond wicket.

Later, Tucker and Rock re­mained un­beaten on 61 and 57 re­spec­tively with the pair shar­ing an un­beaten 128-run stand for the fifth-wicket which pro­pelled the Ire­land ‘A’ side.
