Wana Arana to host annual avurudu festival in Padhaviya, Sri Puraya
Wana Arana Foundation’s annually held avurudu festival ‘ Wana Aranaka Avurudu Udhawa’ is set to be held in Padhaviya, Sri Puraya.
This year the ‘Wana Aranaka Avurudu Udhawa’ will be held as the national avurudu festival of the Sri Lanka Army, the festivities which centre the ‘Wewai Daagebai Gamai Pansalai’ concept, are planned to take place in Sri Puraya village, Padhaviya according to Wana Arana Foundation Secretary Thushara Wanasinghe.
The initial discussions were held recently at the Sri Lanka Army Headquarters with the presence of The Commander of Sri Lanka Army along with the representatives of the Wana Arana foundation and Sri Lanka Army personnel, which was followed by an inspection visit to the proposed site at Padhaviya.
The festival has been planned to be held in grand scale carrying the theme ‘Sirisara Avurudhu Udhanaya’ as the national avurudu festival of the Sri Lanka Army in parallel with the ‘Wewu Seeyak’ project conceptualised by Sri Lanka Army Commander Lt. Gen Mahesh Senanayake.
