IGP GIVES VOICE SAMPLE

Inspector General of Police (IGP) Pujith Jayasundar­a yesterday gave his voice sample to the Government Analyst’s Department for investigat­ion regarding the alleged VIP assassinat­ion plot.

He was summoned to the Government Analyst’s Department to obtain his voice sample to be matched with the audio recordings provided by Anti-corruption Force Organisati­on Working Director Namal Kumara .

It is the first time that an IGP was called in to the Government Analyst’s Department as part of an investigat­ion.

He arrived at around 10.00 a.m yesterday and left after several minutes after giving his voice sample.

When journalist asked the IGP about Namal Kumara and with regard to summons to the Government Analyst’s Department, the IGP said “it is not relevant”.

Kumara claimed that the former director of the Terrorist Investigat­ions Division DIG Nalaka de Silva had discussed with him of an alleged assassinat­ion plot on several VIPS. Ha had handed over several recording of telephone conversati­ons related to the alleged conspiracy to the Criminal Investigat­ions Department (CID). Earlier, Namal Kumara alleged that he was introduced to former DIG Nalaka de Silva implicated in the assassinat­ion plot by IGP Pujith Jayasundar­a.
