Ganja valued at over Rs. 7 mn destroyed during raid

A stock of Ganja plants was destroyed by the STF in Buttala during a raid that took place in Mahapelessa in Hambegamuwa. However the suspects had fled during the raid and evaded arrest.

Police said luxuriant bushes of Ganja had grown to a height of about 4ft. and that the trade value of the stock of Ganja plants destroyed during the raid was estimated to be about Rs.7 million. Some of the Ganja plants were kept by the Hambegamuwa police as case productions.

OIC Hambegamuwa Police D.m.silogama is conducting further investigations on the instructions of ASP D.P.U. Amaratunga and SP Sujith Wedamulla.
