AMBASSADOR JAYATILLEKA MEETS LEBANESE COUNTERPART
Sri Lanka’s Ambassador to Russian Federation, Dayan Jayatilleka recently paid a courtesy call on Lebanese Ambassador to the Russian Federation, Chawki Bou Nassar.
They discussed the pressing problems in the Middle East, the Palestinian issue, the Arab Spring, Israel-arab ties and the double standards on human rights.
The Lebanese envoy said ignoring reality did not mean the issues ceased to exist. “As Lebanon and Syria are linked both historically and geographically, issues in Syria strongly affect Lebanon that has always enjoyed a wide margin of democracy. However, Lebanon now faces economic constraints,” he said.

The two envoys agreed that the Arab world was encountering challenges and that a political solution was needed to regain stability and security and to normalise the regional and political landscape.
