Rusty Navy host Army at Welisara

- BY SHANNON NICHOLAS

The out-of-form Navy SC outfit would look to claim their first win of the second round of the Dialog Rugby League 2018/19 when they host Army SC at Welisara at today.

The Seamen have been unsuccessful in both their fixtures of the second round so far, with defeats coming against CH & FC (31-28) and Havelock SC (31-20).

In fact, the 2013/14 league champions have only registered three wins out of their nine fixtures so far and sit at fifth place on the table; numbers which clearly show the dreary state the team is at. Their only wins have come against Police, Army and Air Force; teams that are below them in the standings. Thus a win today would lift their confidence to some level as they would look for a consolatory top-four finish.

Meanwhile Army would be looking to claim back-to-back wins with a victory at Welisara after their surprise win last week against Kandy SC. The Soldiers walked away from Nittawela with a 23-22 win, and would look to create another upset at the expense of Navy.

Kick-off is scheduled at 4pm at the Navy Grounds, Welisara.
