Mahinda record seven-wicket win

Mahinda College came back into winning terms when they recorded a seven-wicket outright win against Maris Stella College in their Under-19 Inter-schools Cricket Tournament encounter which concluded at Galle yesterday.

Meanwhile, Piliyandal­a Central, Gamini NS Bentota, St. Joseph’s Bandarawel­a, Hindu College, Jaffna and Nalanda Boys’ School, Minuwangod­a also recorded outright victories.

At Galle (Mahinda won by seven wickets)

Maris Stella: 136 and 199 (Ravindu Fernando 69, Amantha Perera 40, Chathura Anudradha 35)

Mahinda (218/8 overnight): 275 (Kaveesha Malliyawad­u 55, Navod Paranavith­ana 54, Nipun Malinga 50, Subanu Rajapaksa 31, Shenash Fernando 3/42) and 61/3.
