HE GULPED DOWN ADHESIVE THINKING IT WAS YOGHURT

- BY C. IGNATIUS ANTHONY

An incident was reported recently from the Grandpass Police where a police constable had swallowed adhesive while mistaking it for drinking yoghurt.

A businessman had arrived at the Grandpass Police Station to lodge a complaint, carrying with him several bottles of adhesive. He had thought of trying his luck selling the gum to the police as he knew that they used quite a bit of it during their day to day activities. A police officer had taken down his complaint and the businessman had asked for a copy of the complaint from the police officer who told him to be seated and he would get him one.

While he waited for the copy to arrive he had shown a bottle of gum to the police constable who was engaged in his duties. He kept the gum bottle on his table while he attended to some paperwork. At that moment another police constable, aged about 50 years, had arrived on the scene and seeing the bottle of gum left next to his colleague and thinking it was drinking yoghurt gulped down the bottle of gum.

Luckily for the greedy policeman, the businessman was well versed in chemicals and what needed to be done in case such an incident occurred and had taken remedial measures so that the policeman was not inconvenienced. It is reported that the officer had praised him for the helping hand, which quite possibly saved his life.
