THE BEST DRESSED

JANUARY

- By Minoli Ratnayake

Every month I have the fabulous task of compiling a best dressed list. I attend some fabulous events, sort through hundreds of photos from the past month to find the best of the best. I do a roundup of events that played host to some of the most sartorially savvy, polished, eclectic, and stylish of dressers.

2019 kicked off with some incredible events, like the Galle Literary Festival which brings together some of the greatest thinkers and writers from across South East Asia and the world. It has grown from a modest beginning to an internationally renowned festival. Each year, participants, from luded international heavy hitters, to local writers and from Man Booker Prize winners to debutant novelists engage in readings, debates, discussions along with the audience. Now it is increasingly regarded as a catalyst for cultural intermingling while also acquiring different meanings and dimensions with each year as it evolves.

Spa Ceylon, the much loved

Sri Lankan brand that captures the romance of old Ceylon combined with ancient Ayurveda wisdom in a precious natural range of majestic formulae and rituals to soothe and protect, had an event to introduce a range of cosmetics from moisturising lipsticks in exquisite colours to eyeshadows in glorious hues, from the nudes and taupes to the more fashion forward greens and blues. Their fabulous mineral face powders and range of blushes were specifically palleted with Sri Lankan skin tones in mind.

The people on my Best Dressed List impressed with their style, their poise, their ability to pull a unique look together and were the most soigne of the soigne for the month. These style mavens know how to turn heads. There was no shortage of fashion hits from February and I look forward to seeing how our city’s sartorially savvy bring more stylish looks in the coming months.
