Renowned French pianist Anne Bertin-hugault set to visit Sri Lanka
Renowned French pianist Anne
Bertin-hugault is set to visit Sri Lanka to conduct an exclusive evening of classical music on 9th February 2019 at 6.30 PM. Held at a private location in Colombo 07, the event will comprise an eclectic range of performances featuring the work of some of the world’s most influential classical composers, along with engaging explanations and historical insights.
The repertoire for the evening will include a variety of popular pieces, such as Prelude in C Major BWV 846 by Johann Sebastian Bach (16851750), Andante from the Sonata no. 16 in C Major K.545 and “La Tartine de Beurre” by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart (1756-1791), Moonlight Sonata no. 14 in C# Major, op25 no. 2, 1st Movement by Ludwig van Beethoven (17971828) and Etude “révolutionnaire” op12 no. 12 and Nocturne posthume en C# Major by Chopin (1810-1849). The programme will also feature Jeux d’eaux à la villa d’este (from “années de pèlerinage) by Liszt (1811-1886), Kinderszenen (no1-2-3) by Robert
Schumann (1810-1856), Petite suite (extrait) with Johan Debussy, Clair de lune from “Suite bergamasque) by Claude Debussy (1862-1918) Gymnopédie no. 3 by Eric Satie (1866-1925) as well as How fair this spot (arrangement Earl Wide) by
Sergei Rachmaninov (1873-1943).
Born in Lyon, France, Anne Bertin-hugault completed her
studies at the Conservatoire National Supérieur de Musique et de Danse under Géry Moutier. With
the support of the Mécénat Musical
Société Générale, she went on to hone her skills at the Mozarteum in Salzburg (Austria) under the guidance of Hans Leygraf Wolfgang Breunner (pianoforte), and then at the Université de Montréal (Canada) with Jean Saulnier.
After returning to France, she did a
Masters in Music Culture, studying contemporary composers Gyorgy
Ligeti and Maurice Ohana with great enthusiasm. She also completed her studies in chamber music and accompaniment at the Conservatory of Paris (CNSMDP).
Anne’s talent and artistic pursuit have been rewarded during several international competitions. She has been invited to play solos in prestigious venues such as the Atrium in Fort-de-france and the
Abbaye aux Dames in Saintes (France) during the festival Piano en Saintonges. She often plays in chamber music ensembles and regularly collaborates with the Orchestre des Champs-elysées
and the Festival of Aix-enprovence. A subsequent Masters in Education led Anne to teach piano at the Conservatory of Aix-en-provence where she dedicates most of her time at present.
