Jeevana Ganthera debuts as Sri Lanka’s first hydro-ayurvedic wellness centre
Jeevana Ganthera HydroAyurvedic Wellness Centre, Sri Lanka’s first water based herbal therapy procedures, was launched on January 20, at its premises located in Makola.
With an i nnovative ambition to create something unique in Sri Lanka, Jeevana Ganthera Founder Amesh Seneviratne said, “Unlike in traditional ayurveda or spa treatment, we don’t have any oils or therapists and we use high pressure water for all treatment and the human intervention is less than five percent.”
The wellness centre also provides health and nutrition consultations, beauty care, bridal care, pregnancy care, yoga and other water based wellness remedies.
Jeevana Ganthera’s modern re-imagination of the Beheth Oru utilises water pressure and compressed air channelled through 23 jets which target 23 pressure points on the human body.
Keeping true to ancient ayurveda and healing principals using high pressured hydrotherapy for all t he offered treatments, Seneviratne said that all the high pressure water taps and equipment have been imported from Europe and have been modified to compliment the use at the wellness centre.
The herbal hydrotherapy medium is a special combination of ayurvedic medication for enhanced care, and depending on the treatment, the hydrotherapy is supplemented by steam treatments and other mediums.
According the Seneviratne, all the treatments provided and all the medicines used are 100 percent organic and are designed to promote natural healing.
Meanwhile, Seneviratne said that the total investment for this venture amounted from Rs.5-6 million, and that his target market for the wellness centre would be among corporates and t ourists t hrough travel agents and the internet. He also revealed plans to expand by creating a chain of hydro-ayurvedic wellness centres around the island within the next 18 months.
