“Bunch of Thieves” escaping through loopholes in the Law

-

To a reporter’s question, Parliamentarian Ranjan Ramanayake, as always an outspoken personality, could not resist a side kick at the “bunch of thieves” gathering at the recently politicized wedding, after his contempt of court case was postponed apparently due to a judicial quandary compared to other spot on decisions on similar issues.the honourable parliamentarian even assured the reporter of producing photographs for further clarity to show how “BIRDS OF A FEATHER FLOCK TOGETHER”. What he was trying to stress was the contempt for principles.as the saying goes “set a thief to catch a thief”, it will never happen in our country because of the “cordial relations” between the two factions.

Massive fraud cases continue to be postponed due to loopholes in the law which some “learned counsel” thrive on and which law enforcement authorities fight shy of correcting. Even our international warrants are up against mysterious loopholes in the process while the culprits are openly roaming the globe using fake documents

It is reported that there is a backlog of more than 9,000 cases to be heard leave alone the current ever increasing frauds brought to light. New courts are not a solution leave alone a new constitution which is an absolute waste of public funds. Looking at it even cross-eyed, our judicial system is woefully archaic and outdated and needs to be re-vamped fast considering the massive public funds and privileges expended if not wasted to bring justice to the unfortunate

public Contempt of court is considered an offence and an insult to the supremacy of Court sittings in judgement on unlawful activities and equally applicable to the trust of the general public in the Rule of Law, which is brazenly violated by our pious lawmakers. MELVILLE PERERA KOHUWALA
