Artistic talents to be empowered with Asia Network Beyond Design
Asia’s vibrant culture is slated to come under fresh spotlight next week with the much-awaited Asia Network Beyond Design (ANBD) gearing up to take place in Colombo, giving much emphasis to the regions creativity.
The ANBD Colombo Chapter, which will kick off on 11 February with a halfday conference, would be followed by an exhibition featuring arts, literature, and technology, amongst others. To be held at the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology (SLIIT) until 15 February, the event will also feature an awards ceremony.
International delegates gracing the occasion are Prof. Cho Youl (Chairman ANBD), Prof. Jeehyun Kim (The Secretary General) Prof. Akira Harada (Honorary Chairman), Prof. Guang-dah Chen (Representative-taiwan), Prof. Sui-lan Chung (Representative-taiwan) and Prof. Yin-yoongsiow (Representativemalaysia) in addition to 15 other foreign university delegates.
Representing Sri Lanka at the ANBD Colombo Chapter will be Athula Mahawalage (Representative), Prof. Janaka Rajapakse (Advisor) and Arunaishara Gamage (Secretary).
The exhibition will be open to the public from the 11th February 2019 to 15th February 2019.Over 170 creations and designs have been selected from leading universities in Asian countries. Many foreign academics and professionals will be visiting for this event and they have gracefully agreed to conduct a workshop for the Sri Lankan students and industry professionals.
The event serves as a platform for university student communities who are actively engaged and studying Design and Multimedia based curricula in Sri Lanka to gain fine insights.
ANBD plays a leading role for Asia design development by sharing of artworks, researches, education, technology and thought for cooperation and exchange of Asia designers through the exhibitions. Currently ANBD is organizing periodic exhibitions in permanent member areas such as Seoul, Tokyo, Taipei, Tianjin, Tainan, Kuala Lumpur and Shanxi and have started working with Sri Lanka, Thailand and Germany.
