Drunken man gulps down water with ornamental fish

A friend who was an invitee at the daughter’s wedding party had gulped down the water in a bottle with ornamental fish. This story is reported from a remote village off Medirigiriya.

A grand level party was organized for the elder daughter’s engagement at the house.there were around 200 guests from both the parties attended the occasion, which went on from 10.00 in the morning till 4.00 in the evening.

Even after the couple had left along with the invitees, a few friends of the chief occupant remained there and continued to enjoy.

Those who had consumed beyond the level and were still tempted to hear that there were more left in the house and the house owner had served them with more. A middle-aged man who was among them felt thirsty and went inside the house in search of water. Having spotted a bottle of water on a table, he, without having a second thought, gulped down the contents and joined the boozing session once again.

In the rush, a small boy in the house started crying and lamenting that his bottle containing ornamental fish had gone missing. Hearing his screams the house owner came inside the house and inquired from the child as to what went wrong.

Overhearing his claim, that someone would have accidentally thrown away the bottle with his pet fish, an elderly woman said “I saw Siripala was drinking the water in that bottle” with a view of pacifying the child. It was too late when everybody realized that Siripala had gulped down the water with the ornamental fish.
