Meet KAYAH

- BY RIHAAB MOWLANA

When it was just Sanjuka and his girlfriend, they would ask each other about how their day was. Now that they have Kayah, that is the next most important topic they discuss. They only hope that she knows and feels how much love they have for her. As his girlfriend would say, “I think my heart might burst with love for her”

QHOW DID YOU FIND YOUR PET?

Long story short, a family friend of ours had a Rottweiler who was about to give out a litter. Seeing how I was with his dog made him want to give me one of his puppies.

QWHAT’S THE STORY BEHIND THE NAME YOU’VE GIVEN?

I went through many names with my girlfriend even before we confirmed on having a dog. We knew we wanted a female puppy so after going through different names we came across the name Kayah. Instantly we knew that was the name we would name our dog.

QWHAT ARE MEAL TIMES AND BATH TIMES LIKE?

I feed her 3 times a day and bathe her once every two weeks. In between whenever she gets dirty, she is given a wash but not with shampoo.

QWHAT’S HER FAVOURITE THING TO DO?

She loves to chew on things. Especially empty coke bottles. She also likes skinning the green layer on tennis balls.

QWHAT’S THE NAUGHTIEST THING SHE HAS DONE?

It’s hard to pick one in particular. With that being said, there was this one instance she had gotten out of her enclosure while I was still asleep and decided to do some interior design work on the house. I had a mosquito net on the main entrance that prevented mosquitos from coming into the house and she decided to give the net a frayed design. Needless to say, I have been treated like a mosquito buffet ever since.

QHOW DOES SHE REACT WHEN YOU RETURN HOME?

Usually the same way every time I come home. She’s full of energy and waits for me to let her out. When I do she jumps on me while whining at times and starts treating me like a liver flavoured ice cream.

QDOES SHE DO ANYTHING OUT OF THE ORDINARY THAT FASCINATES YOU?

Her existence itself is so extra ordinary. She turns into a freak everytime my girlfriend comes over. She runs, jumps and goes crazy and used to cry as well! She also likes joining in on our hugs which makes it even better.

QWHAT’S THE BEST THING ABOUT YOUR PET?

Without a doubt its the way she makes us feel. We never knew we could love anything this much. Despite her being hard to handle at times and the responsibility being too much to handle at times as well, I would never trade her in for anything. She is the perfect companion for me right now since I work from home and I am alone most of the time. She always keeps me company and she never fails to put a smile on my face through her weird antics.

QWHAT WAS THE MOST UNFORGETTABLE MOMENT YOU’VE SHARED WITH YOUR PET?

There are so many moments that we shared together. But one of the most unforgettable moments was when I went to see the puppy I chose. (had to pick my puppy before she was 10 days old since the breeder was going to dock the tails of the other puppies and I wanted my one to have a tail). I had my doubts on whether or not I picked the right puppy from the litter and then suddenly out of nowhere, Kayah was the first puppy to open her eyes. As weird as it sounds, that is when I knew that I had picked the right puppy.
