Gnanasara Thera to complete 6-year jail term

6-month jail term suspended for 5 years

Homagama High Court Judge Amal Thilakarathna suspended for five years the six month prison term imposed by the Homagama Magistrate on Bodu Bala Sena General Secretary Ven. galagoda Aththe Gnanasara Thera.

The judgment was given after hearing the appeal made by the Thera. The Thera was sentenced to prison by the Homagama Magistrate Court on June 14, 2018 on charges of abusing Sandya Ekneligoda, wife of disappeared Journalist Prageeth Ekneligoda and intimidating her. There will be no change in the jail sentence the prelate now serves.
