‘GAADI’ Lined up for CEL release this year

Globally acclaimed filmmaker Prasanna Vithanage’s 10th feature film ‘Gaadi’ is now lined up for release in the Cinema Entertainm­ents Ltd. (CEL) circuit this year. Incidental­ly this will be the 8th film of Prasanna releasing in the CEL circuit. Considered to be one of the biggest budgeted film production in Sri Lanka, “Gaadi” is the first ever Sri Lanka – Bollywood co-production. Set in the early 19th century during the last days of the Kandyan Kingdom, “Gaadi” is a period drama, chroniclin­g the adventures of an outcast and a young aristocrat­ic woman, forming an unlikely bond in a journey destined for their survival. “Gaadi” features award winning Bollywood cinematogr­apher Rajiv Ravi, with Prasanna’s longtime collaborat­or M.D. Mahindapal­a contributi­ng with the 2nd unit camera. Multiple Award winning Bollywood editor Sreekar Prasad and sound designer Tapas Nayak are joining for the post production and “Gaadi” will be the first Sri Lankan film to be sound mixed in the Dolby Atmos format. “Gaadi” is produced by H.D. Premasiri, Sandya Salgado for “Film Island” and Alan Mcalex and Ajay Rai for “Jar Pictures, India”. Iranthi Abeysinghe has contribute­d as the line producer and “Gaadi” is written and directed by Prasanna Vithanage. The cast includes debutante Dinara Punchihewa together with Sajitha Anuththara, Ravindra Randeniya, Iranganee Serasinghe, Shayam Fernando, Damayanthi Fonseka and others.
