‘GAADI’ Lined up for CEL re­lease this year

Glob­ally ac­claimed film­maker Prasanna Vithanage’s 10th fea­ture film ‘Gaadi’ is now lined up for re­lease in the Cin­ema En­ter­tain­ments Ltd. (CEL) cir­cuit this year. In­ci­den­tally this will be the 8th film of Prasanna re­leas­ing in the CEL cir­cuit. Con­sid­ered to be one of the big­gest bud­geted film pro­duc­tion in Sri Lanka, “Gaadi” is the first ever Sri Lanka – Bol­ly­wood co-pro­duc­tion. Set in the early 19th cen­tury dur­ing the last days of the Kandyan King­dom, “Gaadi” is a pe­riod drama, chron­i­cling the ad­ven­tures of an out­cast and a young aris­to­cratic woman, form­ing an un­likely bond in a jour­ney des­tined for their sur­vival. “Gaadi” fea­tures award win­ning Bol­ly­wood cin­e­matog­ra­pher Ra­jiv Ravi, with Prasanna’s long­time col­lab­o­ra­tor M.D. Mahin­da­pala con­tribut­ing with the 2nd unit cam­era. Mul­ti­ple Award win­ning Bol­ly­wood ed­i­tor Sreekar Prasad and sound de­signer Tapas Nayak are join­ing for the post pro­duc­tion and “Gaadi” will be the first Sri Lankan film to be sound mixed in the Dolby At­mos for­mat. “Gaadi” is pro­duced by H.D. Pre­masiri, Sandya Sal­gado for “Film Is­land” and Alan Mcalex and Ajay Rai for “Jar Pic­tures, In­dia”. Iran­thi Abeysinghe has con­trib­uted as the line pro­ducer and “Gaadi” is writ­ten and di­rected by Prasanna Vithanage. The cast in­cludes debu­tante Di­nara Punchi­hewa to­gether with Sa­jitha Anuththara, Ravin­dra Ran­deniya, Iran­ga­nee Seras­inghe, Shayam Fer­nando, Da­mayan­thi Fon­seka and oth­ers.
