Eran, Nishan guide Moratu MV to victory

A matchbag of nine wickets by Eran Hansamal and a fine knock of 125 by Nishan Madushka paved the way for Moratu MV to record an eight-wicket win against Gurukula MV, Kelaniya in their Under-19 Inter-schools Cricket Tournament encounter which concluded at Moratuwa yesterday.

Meanwhile, St. Peter’s College and Devapathir­aja MMV, Rathgama dominated proceeding­s against St. Anthony’s College, Katugastot­a and Holy Cross College, Kalutara in their matches which ended at Bambalapit­iya and Hambantota respective­ly.

At Moratuwa (Moratu MV won by eight wickets) Gurukula MV: 134 and 149 Moratu MV (159/5 overnight): 217/9 declared (Nishan Madushka 122) and 69/2.

At Bambalapit­iya (1st innings win for St. Peter’s)

St. Peter’s: 246/9 declared St. Anthony’s, Katugastot­a (22/1 overnight): 144 (Thamshana Abeykoon 62 n.o) and 69/3.

At Hambantota (1st innings win for Devapathir­aja MMV, Rathgama)
