HOW DID YOU GET INTO FASHION?

It was a very humble beginning. From my childhood, I always wanted to be part of the fashion industry. I started my fashion career with working in the retail sector. Also, having worked in my family business in the fashion industry led me to where Iam today.

WHO HAS BEEN YOUR BIGGEST SUPPORT IN YOUR LIFE?

The biggest support in my life has always been my family. Whether it's my dad/brother/sisters or my in-laws, anyone who is a part of my family has always been there for me no matter what. Couldn’t imagine this journey without their full support.

WHEN DID YOU START “STYLED BY RAMZY”?

I started my business “Styled By Ramzy” back in 2010. I mapped out a business plan and since then I haven’t looked back.

TELL ME YOUR STYLE OF WORK?

My style of work must be fully credited to my team. We work very closely and work towards the best result. Whether we are dressing any celebrity clients for red carpet events or personal styling or editorial for a magazine. . everything must be done to a standard to achieve the best results.

HOW DID YOU END UP IN AUSTRALIA?

I’m a big dreamer and always wanted to go to Australia for my higher education. I moved here in 2003 for my education and fell in love with this place. The rest is history.

WHO ARE THE STARS YOU HAVE STYLED?

I have worked with many Australian and international celebrities. I have about 50 celebrity clients. To name a few, I have worked with Jean Claude Van

Damme, Hollywood Producer- David Green, Jason Simmons from Baywatch, international singer Arjun, Basketball player Josh Boone, Australian Celebrities

include AFL player Callan Ward, Tennis Legend Sam Groth, TV personality David Hughes, Real Housewives of Melbourne star Pettiflur, The Voice Australia Winner Harrison Craig, Broadway sensation Josh Piterman, Clint Stanaway, Moana Hope and many more.

WHAT HAS BEEN YOUR FAVOURITE TRAVEL DESTINATION AND WHY?

My favourite destination is the Big Apple “New York City”, the city that never sleeps. It's fun and there are so many things to explore. I have always wanted to move to NYC for work and live there. It's on my list.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVOURITE PART ABOUT BEING IN THE FASHION INDUSTRY?

My favourite part of being in fashion is that it always keeps me on my toes. It's constantly evolving and challenges me to take my work into the next level. Also, my other favourite part is that I get to go to cool parties and you get lots of goodie bags.. hahaha

WHO ARE YOUR FAVOURITE DESIGNERS INTERNATIONALLY AND LOCALLY?

My favourite Australian designers are Joe Black, Dion Lee and Toni Matichevski. Other international designers

include Ralph and Russo, Zuhair Murad and Tom Ford. Sri Lankan Brands include

– O:live Couture and Indi by Indi.

WOULD YOU CALL YOURSELF A DESIGNER? OR WOULD YOU GET INTO DESIGNING?

I wouldn’t call myself a designer. As you know I’m a fashion stylist, style strategist. Any stylist must have a broader range to consider when it comes to putting the look together. Whether this can be for an editorial, for a magazine or any red-carpet event itself, I have been working very closely with many designers to bring the vision to life. So I have my input in the garments that they design. I take care of your entire look to make sure it's perfect.hopefully one day I can call myself a designer with my own range.

HOW DO YOU HANDLE STRESS AND PRESSURE?

Working in fashion seems all glamour and fun, but the truth is my work comes with so much pressure and stress. You are working against time. You are not only working at one task at a time. You have multiple projects running simultaneously and you must make sure you deliver the best results to your clients. Also coming up with fashion forward pieces and to make sure it's memorable even after 10 years. That’s not an easy task.

WHAT’S THE MOST INTERESTING THING ABOUT YOU THAT ONE WOULDN’T LEARN FROM YOUR RESUME ALONE?

From my resume people would understand how driven and determined I am with my work life. However, one thing that they wouldn’t learn from my resume has to be that I’m a very humble country boy that lives in a big city.

HOW DO YOU WORK ON YOUR STYLING?

With my personal styling, I always intend to go for a classic look and keep it clean and sophisticated. I always wear a suit. Keep it simple but significant.

TELL ME ABOUT YOUR FAMILY?

We are a tight-knit family. Very easy going and fun. I can’t say we are a small family but for sure we are fun. I have my dad and step mum, 3 sisters and a younger brother. Two of my sisters are married and 2 of my in-laws are very supportive of the family. I have 2 nieces and one nephew whom I adore. I get to dress up with them. We have our differences at times but it's family and we work it out and move on. I wouldn’t have it any other way.

WHAT’S THE BEST / WORST PART OF DOING YOUR OWN BUSINESS?

The best part is I jump out of bed and start working from 6am everyday with such an excitement. I get to travel and meet so many new people. I can’t say the worst part as I chose to do this. I try to juggle work/life balance. Its never going to be easy.

So I have to be happy with what I have.
