MESSAGE FROM HON. SAJITH PREMADASA
I extend my best wishes to the Annual Sessions 2019 and to the National Conference in Architecture, of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects as it celebrates its 61st year of excellence in providing architectural solutions to Sri Lanka and abroad.
During the past 60 years, Sri Lanka Institute of Architects has served the nation with distinction by identifying emerging positive trends of the world and successfully adopting them into our local architectural creations. Architecture, like any other profession, is subject to trends which can impact all its elements from visual appearance to materials used. Although many of the architects continue to use traditional design elements which had existed for years, it is essential to take cognition of these new trends that are emerging and use them to create a positive impact on society. These trends are influenced by many factors, ranging from health, safety and environment to new technologies and changing cultures. Let to-day’s sessions of the Institute of Architects take cognition of these emerging trends and adopt them to realize the hopes and aspirators of our people.
I express my sincere appreciation of the admirable work of the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects over the years and the challenges that it has successfully overcome in its impressive journey. I extend my best wishes for the successful accomplishment of many goals ahead. Sajith Premadasa
Minister of Housing, Construction and Cultural Affairs
