Stale food served at hotel in Peliyagoda

A proprietor of a hotel that allegedly served contaminat­ed food for the Peliyagoda UC members were indicted in court, PHI of Peliyagoda UC Sujeewa Samankumar­a said.

When the council met on Tuesday for its monthly meeting under the patronage of Chairman K. V. Ananda, evening tea was provided with several snacks. A council member had then alleged that the food that was served was stale. The Council PHI who was summoned had examined samples of the snacks and declared that they were contaminat­ed. Sources revealed that the snacks had been provided by a hotel near the Peliyagoda Junction.

When the affected Council member asked the PHI what action he proposed to take against the hotel owner, he had replied that court action would be instituted against the hotel owner further in this regard.

Accordingl­y, action had been filed in Court number 05 in Hulftsdorp to be taken up on 15th March 2019.
