LOCAL WOMEN FALL PREY TO MNCS: SP GOVERNOR

- BY KUSAL CHAMATH

Sabaragamuwa Province Governor Dhamma Dissanayake said it was sad to note that local women had fallen prey to multinational companies (MNCS) that run a market of poisonous food. Addressing the International Women’s Day ceremony held recently at the Ratnapura Public Library Auditorium, he said women were in the grip of MNCS.

“Women who become mothers are compelled to feed their children poisonous food supplied by MNCS. This mafia has destroyed the local milk powder industry and hindered the traditional dietary system which was a legacy of Sri Lankan women. Today, our women have fallen prey to misleading propaganda of multinational companies and feed their children imported milk, instant food and beverages,” he said.

He said women should refrain from feeding their children poisonous food and beverages propagated by multinational companies, but foster dietary habits for a healthy future generation. All Sri Lankans would be happy if women were able to achieve this target, he said.
