Contempt allegation on Ranjan: SC fixes mention on June 12
AG on last July 30 furnished draft Rule against the Deputy Minister complaining of him for having committed the alleged offence
Supreme Court yesterday (7) fixed to be mentioned on June 12, the contempt of Court on the alleged offence of Court against Deputy Minister Ranjan Ramanayake.
The Bench comprised Chief Justice Nalin Perera, Justices Prasanna S. Jayawardena and Vijith K. Malalgoda. The Rules was already read to the accused respondent Ranjan Ramanayake. He had pleaded not guilty. Attorney General on last July 30 furnished draft Rule against the Deputy Minister complaining of him for having committed alleged offence of Contempt of Court. President’s Counsel Faisz Musthapha appeared for Ranjan Ramanayake, while senior Additional Solicitor General Sanjay Rajaratnam appeared
for the AG.
