Legal action to silence buses with blaring horns
Anuradhapura Police recently launched a programme to check buses that have installed horns causing sound pollution.
They checked all buses passing the Anuradhapura town at the police playground in Main Street and took legal action against 25 private buses and an SLTB bus equipped with blaring horns that cause public annoyance and sound pollution. The drivers of these buses told police that such horns had been disconnected, but the police found them connected to a secret switch.
The public lauded the initiative and insisted that such action be taken countrywide.
A police team under Traffic Branch OIC Inspector Senaka Prasanna and SI Palitha Nissanka launched the programme.
