Where have all the heroin gone?

The last drug haul of 278kg according to my knowledge of materials would occupy a space of at least 36 cubic feet

I have always asked myself the question what is happening to all the drugs that are seized latest being 278kg valued at Rs.2.7 billion. An article written by Asiri Fernando some months ago details the prevalent process, he mentions however that little is known of what becomes of the stockpile of evidence, it is also stated that internationally many countries publicly destroy narcotics and other contraband shortly after a sample of the product is taken and the consignment weighed under court supervision.a practice which ensures transparency and prevents the evidence reappearing in the streets.we have heard enough stories of narcotics turning into wheat flour in storage and not so long ago a respected Cabinet Minister opined that 90% of what is seized goes back to the market. With so much corruption taking place in the country it is very difficult for me to believe that billions worth of drugs are destroyed as we are made to believe. Furthermore, several millions are also spent on the destruction process with the participation of the Prime Minister and the President. If it is wheat flour that finally remains it can be distributed to the needy at no cost. The last drug haul of 278kg according to my knowledge of materials would occupy a space of at least 36 cubic feet. Do we have large safes to stock so much material? Or else how are they stored? How many people hold the keys to whatever form of storage? And how secure are the storage facilities? If a Cabinet Minister knows what is happening the Prime Minister and President should also be aware or at least have some suspicion. Let there be transparency in the process and provide a complete detail so as to dispel whatever suspicions in this regard. If the seized drugs are going back to the market the President and the Prime Minister should take full responsibility for the grave crime, because they negate the good work of the detectives and also become party to destroying mostly the youth of this country furthermore, they have to be considered heartless for they do not feel the anguish of the parents of the drug addicts and their shattered lives.
