Germany invites Sri Lanka for fact-finding mission
Germany has extended an invitation to Sri Lanka for a factfinding mission on ‘renewable energy technology’, an area where the island nation has much to learn and improve¸ according to AHK Sri Lanka officials.
The invitation is extended to decision makers in the public administration, ministries, and the private sector, to gain firsthand information on Germany’s smart and sustainable energy technologies.
The fact-finding delegation is slated to be in Southern Germany from May 6 to 10.
While the mission would serve as a platform to gain insights on state-of-the-art technologies in the field of bioenergy, system integration, smart cities and energy storage, the trip would also include on-site visits that would assist in fostering the transfer of expertise.
The AHK asserted that with renewable energies set to make up 34 percent of the country’s energy generation by 2030, the potential for bio energy in the island nation must not be neglected since an addition of 279 MW capacity in biomass is planned until 2034 in the Base Case Plan.
The German delegation in Sri Lanka noted that with the island nation having always expressed a positive relation towards renewable energies, the German business delegation in Colombo is keen on facilitating the exchange between local companies, decision makers and Germany.
