Irish inspired The Four Leafed Clover

(TFLC) is a restaurant with a striking interior and amazing food! They’ve been in operation for a little over 8 months now and continue to draw in a loyal clientele who patronise the restaurant for their hearty food that’s prepared with a Sri Lankan twist. TFLC will be hosting

St. Patrick’s Week from the 14-17th of March and promise four days of celebrations that will include great food and entertainment!

Ambience

Although they make it very clear that the food is not 100% authentic Irish cuisine, The Four Leafed Clover certainly is one of the most on theme restaurants, ambience wise, in the country. Green is used predominantly in a plethora of ways without being garish, and murals depicting Irish folklore, created by two local artists adorn a curved wall. The spiralling staircase and the cascading bottled light bulbs add a mystical element. The earthen tones used perfectly compliment the brick walls.

The Food

I was joined by Hashanthi, one of the owners of TFLC who explained their food philosophy; good hearty food that will satisfy the Sri Lankan diner who loves well flavoured food. As someone who loves to cook and eat, Hashanthi shared that both she and her husband constantly experimented with and tweaked the food to make sure the taste was up to the mark. In light of St. Patrick’s week at TFLC, I tried a few dishes that will be available at the buffet.

The first main I sampled was the Pan roasted chicken flounder

served with a side of rice. It only took one bite, and I was sold! The pan roasted chicken was swathed in a sauce created from its own juices and had a rich flavour that was well balanced. The accompanying rice too was surprisingly tasty, pairing well with the chicken. The food here is mostly meat heavy, so rice is always served as a side. Continuing in the same vein, comfort food veteran, the Beef Pie was also a hearty dish topped with mashed potatoes. It certainly tasted as good as it looked! I also tried the

St. Patrick’s Special Macaroni, a vegetarian dish that was made with spinach and cream. I’m not usually the biggest fan of spinach and often avoid it, but this dish had me going back for more!

For dessert I had the

Greenalicious - Rich chocolate cake with avocado cheesecake cream with crunchy bits. Perfectly sweet enough, the chocolate cake and avocado cheesecake cream were a match made in foodie heaven.

The event will feature live music all 4 days with performances by popular bands Wildfire, Blitz, and Echo, as well as a host of popular games to keep the whole family entertained.
