Blending multiple skills on many tracks

-

The sports track, music track or the business track make no difference to her. Her track record proves that anything can be accomplished if you have the determination and resolve to commit yourself. Ashi Ahinsa Edirisinghe has excelled in sports since her childhood days at St. Joseph’s Girls School, Nugegoda and had also been in the national junior Netball pool. Her ambition then was to become a sports legend. Having played a role as the school Games captain, Ashi took up a career in Finance and there too excelled in sports. Then she helped her father’s business- Edirisinghe Construction company and Power Tools - which she still does, while engaging in higher studies in business management. She also flew for Sri Lankan Airlines some time ago, adding another chapter to her multi-faceted career. Inside this sports enthusiastic is an ardent musician, singer and arts lover who is being approached by many to rope her into acting, presenting and modelling. Ashi has done a couple of covers which are to be released soon. “I do get offers even now, but I am waiting for the right one to get off the mark in the glamour field. With my sports background, I know that one should learn the basics of any art before engaging in it. Unfortunately, in our country we don’t have proper schools that groom artistes. Many artistes are self-taught. I need to open any career which can help me in learning the art. I think the best exposure would be to get off with TV presenting. As a presenter you would get a basic all-round knowledge. So many social media channels have offered me opportunities to join them as a free lance presenter, but my aim is to start off with a mainstream channel. I am negotiating on the matter now. Speaking of pageants, I have so many friends who have extended invitations but I am still guarded about it. The same has to be said about music videos too,” said Ashi adding she would not hesitate to accept a good role in a film, if it suits her principles. “I am thankful to all who appreciate my multi skills and motivate me. In the music sphere I am grateful to veteran musician Manoj Peiris Ayya for the valuable guidance. I feel that my passion for music has really helped me blend all these skills together,” Ashi said. | KASUN THARAKA PIX COURTESY:
