‘EFC History’ second edition launched
The second edition of the history of the Employers’ Federation of Ceylon (EFC) was launched on March 28, 2019, at the BMICH, commemorating the 90th anniversary of the formation of the EFC.
The ‘Second Edition of the EFC History’ was authored by former EFC Director General Franklyn Amerasinghe, who handed over the first copy to current EFC Chairman Pravir Samarasinghe.
The occasion was attended by the senior members of the federation, including the members of the council, trustees, past chairmen and all who served on the EFC councils, past director generals and the present director general, along with the members of the professional staff of the EFC and distinguished invitees.
“The launch of the second edition of the EFC’S history, which documents the EFC’S achievements over the years, including the contributions made by generations of council members, trustees and professional staff will, with no doubt, serve to strengthen its brand,” said Samarasinghe.
At present, the EFC serves a membership of 680 employers drawn from diverse sectors. With a vision to promote social harmony through productive employment, the mission of the EFC is to encourage workers, their organisations and the government to co-operate with business for the attainment of the following objectives: to make employees more efficient and quality conscious, to achieve better terms and conditions of employment, to prevent industrial strife and where disputes have arisen, to resolve them in a fair and expeditious manner, to generate employment opportunities and to provide members with services to achieve objectives of growth and stability.
