INDA NIMIDAM

-

Popular actor and director Lal Weerasinghe has always been ready to step out and challenge the actor in him. In his latest endeavor Lal is virtually having a dream run with his career graph taking an exciting turn. Lal Weerasinghe is playing a lead role in a new Indian movie titled ‘Inda Nimidam’ marking a significant landmark in his colourful career.

“I am perhaps the only Sri Lankan actor who has been trained in India, possessing a diploma from a leading film training school in Mumbai. I was invited to play a lead role in this Indian movie. I am fluent in the Tamil language and that has indeed made the bonding much easier. Indian super stars are starting to appreciate and like my inputs to Indian cinema,” Lal told Daily Mirror Life Impulse.

“Despite being a Sri Lankan actor, my Indian counterparts, crew and team members never showed any difference to me. They accepted me from day one.. they are so simple and humble. The film is directed by R. K. Yesu based on my story plot improvised by the director. My co actress Sanjana Naidu is popular in Telugu cinema. The film will come in five languages – Tamil, Hindi, Malayalam, Telugu and Kannada – with English sub titles. My best friend in Sri Lankan cinema is Channa Perera. On my request, Channa was forced to play a very special role in this movie and this turns out to be a very closer role to me… People might get confused between our two characters. Channa plays a police officer – a very different character for him and his first Indian movie experience.

“This is my second Tamil film, my first was Suriya Udayan. After my first Tamil film I started getting several offers, but I regret declining them then. But it’s never too late… now I have a PRO and I am looking forward to getting more involved in the Tamil film industry,” he said.

“I am not interested in our industry, because most of the people in it are ungrateful, unfaithful and jealous. i have helped so many people in this industry, but they never gave it in return. Many thought Lal Weerasinghe is finished. On the other hand I don’t beleive a film industry exists in Lanka, This movie is a thriller revolving around an ex army officer married to a Jaffna Tamil. It is a suspense thriller depicting the clash between the Indian and Sri Lankan families. It also carries a big message for women and family. It’s a must watch for every husband, every wife and every woman.”

“In Sri Lanka we think cinema is only about artistic films. In India it’s the other way around. Commercial entertaining films get more awards and recognition. Even in the good old days our cinema relied a lot on entertaining quality films featuring Gamini Fonseka and Vijaya Kumaratunga. We were inspired by them. I am looking forward to another film project coming up for me in India. The audio launch of ‘Inda Nimidam’ will take place in Chennai on May 7. The film shot in Red epic is of very high quality. Will you believe that the climax fight was shot in India for 13 hours with just a 30-minute lunch break. I have got wide publicity in the Indian media thanks to this powerful role in the film,” said Lal.

“I am not interested in our industry, because most of the people in it are ungrateful, unfaithful and jealous.i have helped so many people in this industry, but they never gave it in return. Many thought Lal Weerasinghe is finished.”
