He said that two explosive ‘experts’ were among them and they had also died.
“All terrorists directly involved in the bombings are either dead or under arrest,” the Acting IGP said late Monday after a meeting with Defence Secretary Shantha Kottegoda, Tri-forces Commanders at the Ministry of Defence.
Mr Wickremaratne said all the explosives hidden by terrorists for future attacks, have also been seized by the Police and the security forces.
He requested the general public to not fall prey to false reports as there were some unreliable posts circulating on the social media platforms.
He urged the public to contact the Police or security forces to obtain clarification on such reports. He said that the day-to-day life could return to normalcy. However, he said that security plans were being implemented by the security forces with the help of the general public to ensure security in the country. Meanwhile, Defence Secretary Shantha Kottegoda appreciated the contribution given by all those security personnel to safeguard the country following the terror attacks.
He also requested to keep the faith in the security forces as they were the one and the only group who can reinforce the security in the country. Navy Commander Vice-admiral Piyal de Silva said that the navy has taken all the measures to provide security to all harbours and precautions to avoid any illegal activities which could happen in the near future.
Meanwhile, Air Force Commander Air Marshal Kapila Jayampathy said that the Air Force has taken precautionary actions to face any threat from the air.
