Tractor Sales Rep defrauds woman Rs.1.7 mn

Monaragala Division Crime Investigation Unit has initiated investigations to arrest a sales representative of a tractor Import company in connection with a fraud involving Rs. 1.7 million.

Police said the suspect who sold a tractor had not credited its value to the company or registered the tractor and that they initiated investigations to arrest him on a complaint received from a woman of Malarawatta area.

She told police that she paid an advance of Rs.700,000 and handed over to the suspect her old tractor to be sold to cover the balance payment. She said the suspect had sold the old tractor for Rs.800,000 and misused the money.
