Road Lighting at Elvitigala Mawatha, Colombo 8.

The road lighting on the ‘model high way’ of Elvitigala Mawatha, Colombo 8, from the general cemetery junction to beyond the RMV has not been lit for well over one year.

This has now become a security risk in addition to being a hazard to life and limb.

This was brought to the notice of the RDA, through your newspaper, but no action has been taken to date. The excuse given is that tenders have been called-for replacing the light fittings.

How long will it take to get a tender awarded for such a critical item like this?

Can the authorities take immediate action to restore the road lighting in the area mentioned above, because not having illumination in these areas constitutes a major security risk.
