- By Harshana Sellahewa

Sri Lanka’s national telecommunication services provider Sri Lanka Telecom (SLT) launched the ‘SLT Voice App’, at a grand launch ceremony held at the Galadari Hotel, this week.

The SLT Voice App is the telco’s customer-friendly approach to provide easy access to a digital contact list, even with a home phone as its customers are hand in hand with advanced technological applications.

The app was officially launched by SLT Group Chairman P.G. Kumarasinghe Sirisena, in the presence of SLT Chief Executive Officer Kiththi Perera, SLT Chief Operating Officer and Chief Technology Officer Priyantha Fernandez, SLT Chief Marketing Officer Prabhath Dahanayake, other distinguished SLT officials, customers and well-wishers.

Commenting on the launch of the new SLT Voice App, SLT Chief Executive Officer Kiththi Perera said: “With the SLT Voice App, we are bringing all digital products and services to you, the

customer, through this simple device, being yet a fixed-line operator. The solution that we launched today is the first time in Asia. There are similar products, but this is unique. This is a ground-breaking product. I want to thank my product and technical teams for reinventing our traditional phones and bringing it onto this simple interface.”

Customers will be able to connect their land-line connections with up to four other smart devices of choice. Customers can register by logging on to ‘www.slt.lk/ voice’, where they can enter upto four mobile numbers.

The SLT Voice App can be downloaded from the Google Play Store for Android or the Apple Store for Apple products. Registered callers will be able to make and receive uninterrupted voice calls with clarity, conveniently through a SLT Wifi network.

Upon connecting the landline connection to the mobile device, users are provided with features such as ‘Contact List’ on home phone connections as well.

The app has special capabilities such as device independence, location independence, enhanced privacy and enhanced Paymaster control. SLT landlines allow Paymaster to manage voice communication budgets of family dependants in an efficient way as well.

Customers can use the ‘free minute’ voice call allocations on the registered SLT voice package. Adding to the convenience, SLT is also granting low calling rates for calls made through the voice app, at the same time assuring a much lower risk of health hazards.

Together with these exceptional value-added benefits, the customer is privileged to have no data charges or no additional rentals in applying and enjoying SLT’S newly introduced facility.

Calling services such as Whatsapp or Viber require the same app to be installed in both the calling and receiving ends, along with a continuous internet connection. Advantageously, SLT Voice App can make a call to any phone, from anywhere through the SLT Wifi network, and the receiving end is not required to have internet connectivity or the same application installed.
