Second term of schools begins today

The second term for the primary sections of the government schools, postponed due to the terrorist attack on Easter Sunday, will begin today, the Ministry of Education announced.

Schools were opened for Grade 6 to 13 on the 6th but the attendance of students were reported very low.

Secretary of the Education Ministry Nihal Ranasinghe told Lankadeepa that special security system has been arranged for the safety of children jointly with the Ministry of Defence.

Meanwhile a programme on security guidance has also been issued to the schools.

The police and army personnel have been deployed for the safety of students at schools.
