Pollard fined for showing dissent

-

Mumbai Indians all-rounder Kieron Pollard was fined 25 percent of his match fee for showing dissent at an Umpire’s decision during the Indian Premier League (IPL) final against Chennai Super Kings in Hyderabad on Sunday.

During the 20th over, Pollard — unbeaten on 32 off 19 balls — lost his cool as he expected the third delivery by Dwayne Bravo to be called wide.

The Umpires thought it was a fair delivery but Pollard threw his bat in the air in frustration; it was the third dot ball on the trot.

He had avoided a single in the first ball as that would have brought Mitchell Mcclenaghan on strike. He shuffled across the wicket in the second ball; otherwise, it was a clear wide.

Before the fourth delivery, Pollard took guard at the tramline as a silent protest. The umpires had to intervene to normalise the situation.

Pollard admitted to the Level-1 offence 2.8 of the IPL Code of Conduct for Players and Team Officials and accepted the sanction.

For Level-1 breaches of the IPL Code of Conduct, the Match Referee’s decision is final and binding.
