LVMH and Rihanna confirm their new fashion label
Fenty is the first new fashion house for LVMH since it created Christian Lacroix more than three decades ago
After months of rumour and speculation last weekend the news finally broke, LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis
Vuitton said it has created a new luxury fashion house with
Rihanna. Under the brand Fenty, the Paris based collection will include ready-to-wear, shoes, and accessories. betting the recording star and social media powerhouse can bring the same cachet to a brand as the industry's celebrity designers.
In a press statement,
Rihanna said: “Designing a line like this with
LVMH is an incredibly special moment for us.
Mr. Arnault has given me a unique opportunity to develop a fashion house in the luxury sector, with no artistic limits.
I couldn't imagine a better partner both creatively and businesswise, and I'm ready for the world to see what we have built together.”
Fenty is the first new fashion house for LVMH since it created Christian
Lacroix more than three decades ago. It is also the first time the Paris-based luxury conglomerate has named a woman of colour to lead one of its brands. Bernard Arnault, the CEO and chairman of LVMH, said in a release: “Everybody knows Rihanna as a wonderful singer, but through our partnership at Fenty
Beauty, I discovered a true entrepreneur, a real CEO, and a terrific leader. She naturally finds her full place within LVMH.
To support Rihanna to start up the Fenty
Maison, we have built a talented and multicultural team supported by the Group resources. I am proud that LVMH is leading this venture and wish it will be a great success.”
