SUPPORT FOR VICTIMS OF EASTER SUNDAY BOMBINGS
On an initiative by Ms Sattva Zahang, Secretary General of the World Peace Association, the Venerable Kirinde Assaji Thera of the Gangaramaya Temple and the Chairman of the World Peace Association Sri Lanka and the Kalutara Bodhi Trust Ajita de Zoysa will join the three organisations to support the poorest of the victims of the Easter Sunday (April 21) bombings.
A cheque for rupees five million by the World Peace Association approved by Secretary-general of the WPA Sattva Zahang was handed over to Venerable Kirinde Assaji Thera by Ajita de Zoysa.
A further contribution from the Kalutara Bodhi Trust and the Gangaramaya Temple (Buddha Rashmi Fund) will be added for distribution.
Ven. Assaji Thera plans to host the Buddha Rashmi event on Vesak Full Moon Poya Day to invoke blessings on the country and all people of Sri Lanka. The Buddha Rashmi festival will be inaugurated with a Pirith Chanting ceremony for seven days.
The World Peace Association is a global organisation, which seeks to defuse conflicts and reduce wars around the world. The association strives to create a harmonious world for all humanity.
