A Bangladeshi Buddhist monk, who had in his possession six cellular phones and cash Rs.191,000 was taken in for questioning by Kuda Oya Police on information received from the public.

The Police said the 37-year-old suspect was arrested at a temple in D.s.gama in Kudaoya.

Investigations revealed that the suspect who had been staying at a temple in Magalkanda in Beruwala had visited the D.S. Gama temple. However, he was not in possession of a valid Visa to stay in Sri Lanka.

Under interrogation, he had told Police that the Chief Incumbent of the D.S. Gama temple had been known to him for a long time.

OIC Kuda Oya Police IP Prabhath Dissanayake is conducting investigations on the instructions of ASP D.G.U. Amaratunda and SP Sujith Wedamulla.
