Man arrested for attempting to explode hand bomb

An irritated man annoyed by a dispute within the family attempting to explode a hand bomb at Periya Pandivirichchan, within the Mannar Madu D.s.division, was arrested by the Madu Police yesterday

A media personnel in the vicinity who had observed the incident had prevented the man exploding the bomb and had alerted the police

It was reported that following an argument that ensued during a ceremony between a father and a son had led to a clash. The father who went out of the house had returned with a hand bomb in his hands and had attempted to explode the device.

Following a search carried out by the Army attached to the Palampiddy 317 Division arrested the 55- year- old man and recovered the hand bomb.

Steps were taken to defuse the bomb and the Madu Police are carrying out investigations after detaining the suspect.
