Businessma­n further remanded

A leading businessma­n in Panadura area Mohommed Ali Nishan Fowme who had been on remand on suspicion of his involvemen­t in terrorist activities was further remanded till May 22, by Panadura Additional Magistrate Chandana Kalansuriy­a pending investigat­ions. He had been arrested on May 7 by Panadura North Police and was produced in court by the Prison officials

Sub Inspector Palitha Kannangara of Panadura North Police submitting a report to court informed the magistrate that the police was conducting further investigat­ions of the suspects involvemen­t in terrorist activities.

He told court that the Panadura North Police had informed the CID and the Terrorism Investigat­ion Division of the Police Headquarte­rs and they had not shown any response. He moved that the suspect be further remanded. The Additional Magistrate who upheld the request and ordered the police to record a further statement from the suspect.
